ENVIRONMENTAL MANUAL

Most human activities carry special risk which could result in personal injury and property damage. It is an axiom of accident preventing that all accidents have causes whilst some are acts of fate; but great majority of them are preventable.

This manual sets out the responsibilities involved in implementing safety programmes on the worksite. It also presents records and procedures for identifying causes of accidents and reporting systems that are to be maintained on the projects with the understanding that accidents do not suddenly happen, they are caused by unsafe acts or condition.

Scope

This document shall be used a base-line for implementing and enforcement of the company's projects and shall be amended, where necessary; as new standards are adopted and when the client's safety specifications exceed the company's policy. Our company will always contact the supervising loss and prevention unit for guidance if in doubt of any safety or environmental procedures.

PRINCIPLES:

– A job is well done only when it is carried out safely
– All accidents and injuries can be prevented
– Safety i.e. equal to production is important
– Achieving safe operations is a number one priority
– Safety is everybody’s business.

Safety Policy

It is policy of our company to carry out our activities in such a way that the life of all our employees and other people who may be connected with our operations are safe guarded. The company makes adequate provisions of personal protective equipment and insists on observance of all safety precautions necessary for operational work site. To maintain high safety standards in all her operations, the company conscientiously educates her employees on her HSE policy through series of enlightenment programmes.

HEALTH POLICY

Afrocultour is responsible for the health of her employees and will therefore conduct an active policy to attain this. The objective of this policy is reduced or limited to as much as possible risk, which can result in injury, sickness, death, property damage or other forms of loss. It is necessary that early recognition of health hazard is established, assessed and brought under control. The company retains the services of good clinics to take care of the workers. Much emphasis is placed on the promo􀆟on of the total heath concept and protec􀆟on of the workers.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Every employee of the organisation is expected to live in a healthy and an environmentally acceptable atmosphere both at home and at work and must operate within the statutory requirement of Federal Ministry of Environment and its Agencies. In recent years, the Federal Government of Nigeria has show namore than ordinary interest in the protection/preservation of the environment. The Government has established Regulatory and Monitoring Agency (NASREA) and monthly environmental cleaning in some of states in the country aimed at ensuring a clean and healthy environment for the citizenry. We are similarly committed to ensuring clean and healthy environment especially in the course of work. Environmental Sanitation Programme is a serious issue in our company. Physical factors in the environment do influence health at work. These are lightening, ventilation, humidity and effects of temperature extremes.
