As Managing Director of Afrocultour Limited, he midwifed Songs of Nigeria Festival (SONIFES) – a foremost cultural fiesta in Nigeria. He did this with the endorsement of and in partnership with the Federal Ministries of Culture Tourism and National Orientation and Information and Communication (as they were then known). Afrocultour Limited, in 2020, with his robust idea, initiated the Nigerian Entertainment and Economic Roundtable in partnership with Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and the Lagos State Government. Mr. Akamadu had the rare honour of being invited by the Federal Government of Nigeria to serve as a member of National Mirror Committee on Social Responsibility Standards – as the sole representative of the entertainment industry, in 2005. He was also the only private sector member of the 19-man Presidential Committee on Nigeria’s Centenary Celebrations, having him self authored the Concept Note of the commemorative project in 2012 in his capacity as Afrocultour Managing Director. He is a distinguished industry leader and practitioner on the African continent. As a cultural scholar and tourism expert, Mr. Akamadu has written extensively on the imperative of mainstreaming cultour into the economy in various international academic journals and reputable print media, and also has to his credit the book titled “Harnessing Cultour for Economic Growth” which was published in 2023.
